Celebrating 71 Years of Growth & Resilience ✨🎓
Senator the Hon. Shane Archer, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office with Responsibility for Youth and Culture, and also a former student of Grantley Adams Memorial School, delivered a powerful and personal featured address at the school’s 71st Anniversary Service today, May 4th, 2026, under the theme “Growing Strong Through Challenges.”
Drawing from his own journey, he reminded students that their future is not limited by where they start, but by their mindset, effort, and determination. He encouraged them to rise above challenges and continue striving to improve every single week.
He also said that no school has the power to decide that you will fail unless you agree to fail. No school has the power to decide that you will not lead unless you refuse to lead and no school has the power to decide that you will not become excellent unless you stop pursuing excellence.
He left students with three key commitments:
✨ Commit to Discipline – not punishment, but training; doing what must be done even when it’s hard or when no one is watching.
✨ Commit to Resilience – understanding that setbacks will come, but choosing to rise again, stronger each time.
✨ Commit to Purpose – focusing on meaningful goals, not temporary distractions like trends, gossip, or popularity.
It was an inspiring moment as the school celebrated its legacy of shaping strong, disciplined, and purpose-driven young people.
