Unveiling Ceremony of the Youth Space
The Barbados Youth Development Council (BYDC) and Barbados’ CARICOM Youth Ambassadors have a new home at the offices of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment’s headquarters at SKY Mall, Haggatt Hall, St. Michael.
Earlier today, the Hon. Charles Griffith, Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment (MYSCE), officiated the ribbon cutting ceremony that marked the official handover of the office to BYDC’s President, Caleb Brathwaite, and CARICOM Youth Ambassador Alternate, Dana Brome, who accepted on behalf of the CARICOM Youth Ambassadors.
Brathwaite, who welcomed the gesture as the BYDC celebrates its 55th year, beamed with pride as he thanked Minister Griffith for the Council’s new home. Meanwhile, Brome echoed his sentiments while noting that the CARICOM Youth Ambassadors are looking forward to advancing their duties in the new space.
On this momentous occasion, Minister Griffith was joined by Joy Adamson, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, Acting Principal Youth Development Officer, Andrea Titus, National Coordinator of the Year of the Youth Secretariat, Elizabeth Bowen and other officials from the Ministry. Ice Skater, Priyanka Sharma and her parents were also in attendance.
After the ribbon cutting ceremony, the personnel on hand toured the Ministry’s offices to view the newly installed inspirational signage, which were strategically placed at several vantage points.
With a ray of sunshine, in the form of walls painted in canary yellow, the appearance and the ambience of the Ministry’s offices have been brightened and enhanced through the efforts of the Year of the Youth Secretariat’s team. They also oversaw the aesthetically-pleasing layout and design of the new office space.
