Commonwealth Peace Prize
The Commonwealth Secretariat and the Khalili Foundation are pleased to present the Commonwealth Peace Prize, a significant award for visionaries and changemakers who work to promote global peace and unity. Every three years, this award honours a peacebuilder who demonstrates a strong faith-based commitment to conflict resolution and social harmony.
This initiative, sponsored by the Khalili Foundation as part of the Commonwealth Faith Festival, seeks to foster youth-led partnerships that promote peace in diverse communities. Eligible nominees must be distinguished Commonwealth citizens over the age of 30, with a proven track record in peacebuilding and promoting tolerance, respect, and diversity.
Nominations opened on International Peace Day, September 21, 2024, and will close on January 17, 2025. Only member governments can submit nominations through their respective High Commissions. Nominations for the Commonwealth Peace Prize must be submitted to PeacePrize@commonwealth.int by January 17, 2025, at 23:59 GMT. Each nomination must include an official letter of recommendation and an Impact Biography outlining the candidate’s qualifications.
A Commonwealth Peace Prize Committee will form a shortlist of judges, including High Commissioners and international experts, who will be appointed by December 15, 2024. The winner will be announced in February 2025 and will receive a £50,000 cash prize to support their work, along with a citation. The announcement will be made publicly during Commonwealth Week 2025.
