Financial Literacy Training Programme Underway for Youth Commissioners
The Division of Youth Affairs successfully hosted a three-day Financial Literacy Training Programme for Youth Commissioners of the Youth Development Programme from Wednesday, June 17 to Friday, June 19, 2026, at the Division’s Training Room.
Facilitated by the National Financial Literacy Programme (NFLP) of the Ministry of Energy and Business, the training was designed to enhance the financial management knowledge and skills of participants through practical and interactive learning experiences.

Throughout the programme, Youth Commissioners were highly engaged as they participated in workshops, presentations, discussions, and activities covering key areas such as budgeting, saving and investing, borrowing and debt management, and financial goal setting.
The initiative formed part of the Division’s ongoing commitment to staff development and professional growth, recognising that continuous learning is essential for improving service delivery, building confidence, and equipping officers with the tools necessary to perform their roles effectively.
Over the three days, participants explored practical strategies for managing finances responsibly while developing skills that can benefit both their professional responsibilities and personal lives.
The programme also incorporated a monitoring and evaluation component to assess participant engagement and the overall effectiveness of the training. Feedback gathered from participants will help inform future staff development initiatives within the Division.
The Division of Youth Affairs remains committed to investing in its people and providing opportunities that strengthen competencies, enhance performance, and support the delivery of quality services to Barbados’ youth.
