About The Next Steps Training Initiative
The Next Steps Training Initiative is one of four programming channels in the Division of Youth Affairs. Launched in June 2008, the programme seeks, among other things, to empower Barbadian young men and women to realise their fullest potential while promoting the building of social capital.
The Next Steps Training Initiative programme seeks to contribute to the development of the Human Resources necessary to function in a knowledge-based service economy and the creation of appropriate family, community and society values. It is one of Government’s response mechanisms exemplifying its firm commitment to developing the institutional framework and facilitating those aspects of social interaction that will unlock the potential of all Barbadian young people.
The Next Steps Training Initiative Programme partners with recognised educational institutions, including Samuel Jackman Prescod Institute of Technology, Barbados Community College – Hospitality Institute and Barbados Vocational Training Board, to facilitate the training and development needs of Barbadian youth.
