Congratulations, Sarah Bisram! 🌟🥳
We are delighted to announce that our dedicated BNYP member was awarded a 2024 National Exhibition for her academic achievements in 6th Form at Harrison’s College. Sarah gave credit to her strong support system in her ability to confidently balance her studies and involvement in the Barbados National Youth Parliament. Debates were typically held during vacations, allowing her to prioritise her studies while gradually working on debate preparation. She stated that her commitment to BNYP helped her improve her research and writing skills, and that practice became more natural and time-efficient. This experience sparked her interest in politics and current events, and she formed valuable connections with fellow young leaders who were invested in Barbados’ development. Bisram also met with other Caribbean youth parliamentarians during the 17th Regional Youth Parliament in Guyana. Overall, BNYP has helped her see politics as a place for everyone, and that the youth’s voice matters.
Currently, Sarah is enrolled in the LLB Law Program at the University of Nottingham. She has a special interest in international law, specifically climate change, and wishes to expand her knowledge of human rights and the global economy while at university. Her involvement in various organisations, such as the Belfield Youth Council and former Vice President of the Harrison’s College Key Club, demonstrates her devotion to making a difference. Additionally, she has a background in performing arts at Operation Triple Threat for many years and hopes to continue this passion in university.
This achievement was well deserved and was nothing short of inspiring— from her devotion to community service to representing Barbados at the 17th Regional Youth Parliament. Sarah, you’ve shown us what it truly means to lead with passion and purpose. Here’s to many more successes ahead! 🚀
